@ne1 hu underwent placement procedure at BITSPILANI
v r sitting for placements in 1st sem of 09-10
really worried seeing the placements last sem
wanna know few things:
1.how to prepare for core companies if ne come for placements(especially chemical)
2.plz tell roughly about cgpa cut off of the companies visited in recent yrs.r they very strict about the cutoff or ne relaxation is done.also what is the cutoff for IT companies
3.How do we apply for PSUs?
4 Does posting resumes online at job seeking sites(like monster.com)helps?
5.Is there 100% guarantee of getting placed in PS2
and finally
What to do agar recession ki vajah se lag gayi apni (placementt nahi hui to?) :shock:

well can't answer thefirst question
but for rest
well cgpa cut offs have been genrally around 7 -7.5 for most of the companies, but lot of gud companies took off the cgpa cutoff actually
ps 2 well no one is guranteed 100% job just depnds on ur company and how u work over thre
for psu's just apply when their dates come out , lot of people made jobs last semester in PSU's

I am going into my 4th yr BPGC, will try to ans some stuff.
1) Let the experts ans this.
2) IT usually have 6.5.I think Microsoft had 7.5 or 8 .Usually even the best companies dont keep cutoffs above 8(I think even Google is 
3)Some will come on campus.For others , u have to apply off campus.
4)Have no idea.
5)No.It doesnt depend on the company , rather is there is a vacancy in your particular company office/division.If the same company has 2 PS2s in diff places , it is possible that 1 may offer jobs , others may not.
Of course it also depends on how well u work.
As for resarch instis , I doubt i they offer u a job.
Cant answer the last 1 properly either 
plz correct if I am wrong

That's the main concern about your career perspective. In the recession time, jobs are becoming very high priority for the peoples, who are looking for the jobs. Its not any easier task for them to achieve the same. But with lots of efforts, effectiveness & concertration about the prescribed section.

i have completed my first year from bits pilani in ENI discipline. now i have been alloted
METALLURGICAL&MATERIAL SCIENCES at IIT Mumbai through jee 2010. i have further plans of doing mba from a reputed institute .
so plz advice me unbiased what should i do considering the factors of 2 yrs being saved in case of continuing with bits &
the brand iit mumbai factor. |

As far as doing an MBA is concenred , IIT-B brand wont give you additional advantage.There are no special quotas/pref for IITs or BITS in any top Mgmt instis. Only thing you'd gain would be a different(probably better) campus life.
