i was talking to my frnd at iit delhi and during the conversation he told me dat his cg was 8.79. similalry he mentioned some of his frnds with equally good cg he mentioned that they had a 10-9-8-7-6 system. so which sysyem is better ? 10-8-6-4-2 or the former one. cause it leads to drastic drops in cg. what are the advantages of our grading system and do ppl know the diff?
Well, both the systems are quite different in themselves and its really difficult to say which is better. The 10-9-8-7 grading requires you to be a lot av+ to get an A there. Like you can manage an A at av+45-50 at BITS in a normal course while you would get a B or maybe even a C at IIT at that score. Maybe your friends could well have ended up to be 10 pointers had they been here at BITS while maybe some 6 pointers here could have been above 7.5 at IIT.
Grading is a relative concept! So more is difference (likewise in BITS system) More efficient the grading is Because It will clearly show the performance of students! But there are certain negative points also in this system that students with lower cg's will get demoralised soon as compared to 10-9-8-7-6 system!
