This is a very good question.
Well I will answer all the flexibilities provided at BITS.

1. For MSc Courses:

(i)You can go for a dual at the end of the first year, and depending upon your cgpa you will be given a dual in some BE(hons) course. The net duration of the course will be 5 yrs.

(ii)You can also go for a vertical transfer to a BE(hons) course, but generally u require a very high cgpa for this(~9.5+).Sometimes it also dpends on your batch performance, but moslty u can get the transfer if you are within top 10-15 in your batch. In this case, the net duration of the course will be reduced from 5yrs to 4 yrs.

2. For BE(hons) courses:

(i)You can go for a vertical transfer from your current BE(hons) to another BE(hons) courses, but again you require a very high cgpa for that.Net duration of course will be same,i.e,4yrs

(ii)You can take a dual in some other BE(hons) course,i.e,like BE Mech.+BE CS.But again the reqd cgpa is very high and the net duration of the course will be 5 yrs.

(iii)Or else you can take a dual in any of the Msc Courses, but this dual as well requires a high cgpa and you will be considered for this only after the Msc students get their allotment in duals as they are given the first priority.Net duration again will be 5 yrs.

In short, whatever u want to do,u need to have a good CGPA.

Yes but you'll have to be in the top 10 of your entire 2009 batch after the 1st yr if you want to do BE + BE

CGPA is calculated only with the grades that you have got in each of the subjects of a particular sem.

no u hav to study only for 4 yrs n u get only the degree that u've changed to, in ur example computer science. Basically the topics taught in first yr r common to all, so u need not worry.

Thats wat I've understood frm the admission modality on the bits website. Seniors plz correct me if i'm wrong.
