1.) Most dualites get placed through PS2 where they usually spend 1 full year working. These stats are not collected by BITS.However , they are good.
2)Take your BE wrt to your interests rather than doing a combo.

The dual degree does not affect the placements, and the best BE for an Msc Matha guy is CS. As far as I know(acc to other posts be seniors) the study in deeper CS courses are similar to maths.

Yeah.
MSc Maths has certain topics where the algorithms taught can be implemented in CS. But at the same time you have one full year to exercise your choice and find out what you want to take.

1. Average placement depends on the dual that you get because thats what the company would be looking for, rather than your M.Sc degree. And duality doesnt hamper the placement prospects in any ways. As someone said that dualites get placed in their PS2 company. That is one case. The students also get to come to the campus and sit for placements for the companies they want to go nad may get placed that way.

2. M.Sc Maths is the most diverse branch after M.Sc Eco. Eco has no links with any of the BE branches while maths has got a link with Computer Science, EEE, EnI, Mech n so on. Out of these, the Maths, CS combo is regarded as the best.

A dualite gets the same placement opportunities as a single degree student.
As told by other seniors, CS is one of the best branches that can be taken as a Dual with Maths.

Dear Sir,

Greetings. I wish that my son joins BITS this year. He is taking the test on 24th May.

I have gone through the syllabus of BE CS and M.Sc Info.Systems.
Mostly the subjects and electives are similar.
Other than the tag, i do not find a major change in the academics.

Can you suggest me the differences between the two in terms of prospects for higher studies and placement. Do they get equal preferences by the employers?

Since the tag is M.Sc, are they treated as second fiddle to BE CS.

Your inputs will be highly valuable.

Are there any differences in the three campuses w.r.t. M.Sc Info Systems.

what is the expected cut off for this course this year?

early response is highly solicited

regards
santhanam

1) All companies that hire for CS take MSc tech Info Sys also.MSc Tech Info Sys is eligible for CAT/GRE etc .

2) Course stru/syllabus is the same in all campuses.

3) No comments on cutoffs. Past few yrs cutoffs can give a general idea. However due to different factors (toughness of exams , opening up of new colleges etc.) can significantly affect the cutoffs.

Wishing your son the best of luck for his exam.

placements and ps2 allotments for m. sc tech info sys have been fantastic. as far as i've heard, the course structure is very market oriented. companies like that. so, no issues over there.
