I that post I have also written that BITSian, particularly BITS, Goa, need not reply to any trash post with full details. That is not maturity. You should reply only to queries which are really useful and where someone wants to get some useful insight into the college. What is this abusing each other over petty issues like package, which div of Microsoft visit Goa and which Pilani .
To me it looks utterly disgusting and below the dignty of BITSians. Senior don't mind but please take lessons from Great Indians who have succeeded in their respective fields. Late Smt. Indira Gandi never used to even mention the name of her opponent. Because she know if she harps on her opponent, it is the opponent that gets free publicity.
Please stop this petty fight over package and which company visits Goa. We freshers very well know that BITS is great. Pilani is the old and most prestigious campus but Goa is also great. Infra, is better in Goa. As far as package and all these things are concerned, it depends upon the individual what he does in the 4 years in the campus. Goa campus gives everything to you to develop and rest depends upon students.
I have not seen IIT Guwahati students writting such posts in GOIIIT forum.
BITSians it is high time you make this forum more useful and motivate freshers to do something good in life and not merely talk of pay package and placement. |
IIT G is quite reputed. Plus it has the IIT tag. Maybe it still faces competition from the big 5 IITs, but its not compared to IP, VIT. That should give you an idea about why we need to reply to students. _________________ Anmol Sharma (2007S3P8444)

IIT-G is a completely different case.
For the past 50 years. JEE has done enough to gain ppl's respect for the IITs (and they completely deserve all this)
IITs would never need any ad campaigns.
____________
But for us.. the condition is such that you need to have massive campaigns for pilani itself.. forget about goa..
Almost every student knows what Mathematics and Scientific Computing is; most ppl dont think twice before taking admission in the new IITs. but how many of them know that Mscs are duals or Msctech degrees, civil, chemical, pharmacy degrees here arent crap.!
Many of my friends filled just 2 degrees here. CS pilani and EEE pilani.
And they are not alone.
Around 7000 people take themselves out of the iterations for some reasons.. (14000cutoffs - 4000iit - 2000bits_seats =8000 ~ 7000).
And there are heardly 50-70 empty seats for the IITs and they dont need 5 iterations..
I think the administration needs to look into this.BITS system isnt known to many and the brand BITS isnt as popular as it is in the professional world. It would be bettr for both, students and BITS.// _________________ Kushagra Verma

A new initiative for the same is already in the pipeline by the alumni! We've been discussing this for a long time, and this time something concrete came out of it. Wait for sometime and you'd know! _________________ Bah!

@Akaash Bhaiya: Wow. that's good news!
Seriously, I agree with Kushagra. BITS does need to atleast clear the doubts in everyone by spreading more awareness, if not just going around "publicising" itself. _________________ RaSh
