see for a transfer to "pure" BE it does not matter which discipline u were in previously.
what i mean is,a person in MSc Physics and a person in EEE have same degree of difficulty if they r looking for a transfer to C.Sc.
in 2008 batch 16 ppl got such transfers out of which 4 were from the MSc group.
(it could also have been possible that all or none were from MSc.As I said before it doesnt matter which discipline you were in previously)
transfer to BE ENI was possibe at a CGPA of around 9.2
tansfer to BE EEE was possible at a CGPA of around 9.5-9.6
But this can vary every year as it depends on the CGPAs of the students applying for transfer. _________________ 2008B5(->A8)PS648P

Hi 'juhi_2408',
I would advise you to follow this simple rule on the forum : Go through the posts already made in the appropriate sections of the forum before posting. Whatever you have asked has been answered infinite times on this forum.
Aspirants should note this fact that we are ready to help, and that doesn't mean people shall simply post queries even if they have been answered earlier. It takes 2 minutes for you to browse the section and look for a similar topic. If anything new, please post freely!
Thanks,

To Dinesh - Dont be disheartened with what ur mates say.
As someone noted elsewhere, the director reportedly said "give me a CGPA 10 pointer and I will give him any course he wants"
Theoretically and PRACTically this appears true - ie if you have a very high CGPA nearing 10,
irrespective of which course u are in in the first year, u have a chance at the end of 1st year to ask for vertical transfer (say from B. Pharm to BE Computers, or from MSc IS to BE EEE)
This is what I have understood. Sometimes even a CGPA just > 9 may even be useful, as each case is handled each year individually. So u can (and must if u are keen) work for it.
Also see Rahul (Shadow)'s post:

Get like 9.5+ and most likely u'll get it.However , IS has placements/opportunities as good as CS ,
so be wise when choosing your transfer.

@dinesh 1991
There is no such restriction for a Msc Tech IS student. As said abv,if u get a very high cg at the end of your first year(atleast 9.4),then u can get a vertical transfer to a branch of your choice easily.
What u require is to be among the top 10-12 students of your batch at the end of the first year. _________________ Giridhar Prasanna(GP)

@ giridhar
u said " in ur batch u should be in the top 10 - 12"
This means among all 1st years (i.e batch of 600 students) and not just in the A group or B group or M Sc IS section ?
Kindly confirm. |

The course for the first year is same for all the students,i.e,be it any group, whether A or B,all of them are goin to have 6 common subjects per sem.So u need to be in top 10-12 among the total number of students of your btach(out of 600) _________________ Giridhar Prasanna(GP)

Thanks nirupam, its very knowledgeable & informative article. I've gone through it entirely. Is not only helpful for only the concerned person but also helpful for all aspirants who are taking part in MBA exam for current session. I can also help you in some other way, if you are willing to get tips on your chances for admissions to top MBA programs.
